California Septic System Litigation

Septic systems that are improperly sited, designed, installed and maintained contribute substantially to the pollution of aquifers and bodies of water in California. Though the regulatory regime is being improved, the adoption of regulations based on the State Water Board's new regulations will be a protacted affair. Advocates for the Environment aims to speed the process, and to compel some of the laxest cities and counties to enforce more effectively the existing laws and regulations through litigations. If you know of a particular egregious situation where a septic system is causing pollution, please contact us.

Regulatory Monitor

Environmental activists wishing to participate in the environmental approvals process frequently don’t find out about projects that affect them until too late. This happens because there are a large number of information sources that need to be monitored, including:

We are planning to set up a monitoring program to pass on project information from these sources to the Los Angeles environmental organizations and activists who can use it.

Tire Gauge Litigation

Many tire gauges, both those sold to consumers and those used at gas stations, are inaccurate. Gauge inaccuracy leads to overinflation – if the gauge reads too low – or underinfaltion. Underinflation causes tires to overheat and potentially blow out, and lowers gas mileage. Lower gas mileage increases fuel consumption, and significantly adds to global warming.

Advocates for the Environment is planning a state or federal class-action lawsuit against manufacturers of inaccurate tire gauges on behalf of tire-gauge owners who have been damaged by underinflation or overinflattion. If you have an inaccurate gauge and might be interested in being a representative plaintiff in such a lawsuit, please contact us.
